Membership Requirements:

Members of CFSA are required to register their sheep prior to sale, or prior to breeding, or prior to one year of age, whichever comes first.

Members of CFSA are required to report to CFSA any data that will help in tracking and defining this new breed.

Members are encouraged to work together with other CFSA breeders to exchange information for the best interest of the breed as well as the interest of the farmers who keep this breed.  An online forum is provided for this use, or information can be shared with the Registrar.

CFSA members are required to cull sheep that are not hardy, thrifty or show any signs of poor conformation. Selection is also based on:

  • hardiness
  • low maintenance
  • twinning ability
  • good mothering instincts
  • shedding ability
  • good carcass weight at 6 to 8 months of age
  • rams must have good horn width
